Dungeon Finder

'''Dungeon Finder''' is the Wrath of the Lich King group-matching system used to assemble players for dungeon content.

It is also commonly called the '''Looking For Dungeon''' system or '''LFD'''.

On the Shadowmourne Realm, Playerbot systems may interact with dungeon-group activity depending on server configuration.

Purpose

Dungeon Finder helps players find group members without manually assembling an entire party.

A standard dungeon group typically requires:

Roles

Players choose one or more available roles before entering the queue.

The main roles are:

  • Tank
  • Healer
  • Damage

Tank

The tank controls enemies and absorbs incoming damage.

See Tank.

Healer

The healer keeps the party alive.

See Healer.

Damage

Damage characters defeat enemies while managing threat.

See Playerbot DPS.

Playerbots and Dungeon Finder

The Shadowmourne Playerbots system contains Dungeon Finder support.

Depending on realm configuration, Playerbots and Random Bots may participate in dungeon-group systems.

This can help improve group availability.

Random Bots

Random Bots may be configured to join Dungeon Finder activity.

This can make dungeon queues more active even when fewer human players are online.

Group Composition

A complete dungeon group normally contains:

1 Tank
1 Healer
3 DPS

If a manually controlled group is missing a class, AddClass Bots may also help fill the role before entering content.

Dungeon Preparation

Before entering a dungeon:

  • verify role
  • check equipment
  • check spells
  • verify healer mana
  • prepare Playerbots

Useful Playerbot preparation:

maintenance
autogear

See Playerbot Dungeon Guide.

Dungeon Completion

Dungeon Finder groups still need to complete normal dungeon objectives.

This may include:

  • defeating bosses
  • completing scripted events
  • finishing quests
  • reaching the final encounter

Dungeon Etiquette

Even with Playerbots, good group habits help:

  • allow the tank to pull
  • avoid unnecessary enemies
  • watch healer mana
  • stay with the party
  • do not rush ahead
  • follow encounter mechanics

Threat

Damage characters should avoid pulling threat away from the tank.

See Threat.

Crowd Control

Difficult pulls may benefit from crowd control.

See Crowd Control.

Troubleshooting

Queue does not fill

Possible reasons include:

  • missing tank
  • missing healer
  • insufficient players or bots
  • level restrictions
  • Dungeon Finder configuration

Group enters but struggles

Check:

  • equipment
  • role assignments
  • healer mana
  • tank threat
  • strategies

Playerbot performs poorly

Try:

maintenance
autogear

and verify its role.
